Animal: Spinner Dolphins (Stenella longirostris)
Location: Red Sea, Egypt
Date: December 9th, 2014
Camera: Panasonic DMC-GX1
Lens: LUMIX G VARIO 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6
Settings: f/8 | 1/125 | ISO160
During the field trip to the Red Sea with my university course we spent the last day in the dive resort
Wadi Lahami. We took speedboats far out to sea, about 45 minutes out, to visit a reef where we could
hopefully find dolphins. Eventually we did find them and it was as amazing experience. I didn't get to
swim that much with them as my speedboat was a bit more unlucky with timings than the other one,
but it was amazing nonetheless. I tried to get a couple of shots of them but it was difficult, especially
since I'm not too fond of snorkeling (I prefer scuba diving, it feels safer), but I'm quite happy about this
one anyway. Quite different compared to my preferred subjects of Nordic wildlife but I hope you like it.
For me this is the only way to observe dolphins and other cetaceans; in the wild.
